10 Things To Do When You’re Stuck at Home

We’re all stuck at home now due to the Stay Home, Stay Safe order. At first, it seems great to be at home, binge-watch your favorite shows and movies, and not have any responsibilities. But after a couple of days, it’s hard not to get cabin fever.

UPDATE: The Stay At Home order mentioned in this post has since been rescinded.

It’s important to keep a routine.

Try to wake up at the same time every day, get ready, and maintain a schedule for yourself so the days don’t run together. This will keep you organized and productive.

I’ve put together a list of activities together you can do by yourself or with your family that will help this time pass AND make you productive!

1. Clean Your Home

This is the perfect time to get your home in order! Take this time to deep clean every area of your house. I’ve put together a cleaning schedule so it doesn’t get too overwhelming! You can check it out here.

2. Organize & Donate

Along with cleaning your home, go through your clothes and get rid of items you don’t wear anymore. And this doesn’t have to stop at clothes. Go through that old storage container you haven’t opened in years or your garage. This is the time to declutter! Great start to spring cleaning.

3. Learn Something New

How many times have you said, “When I have some downtime, I’ll do this…” THIS IS THAT TIME. Whether it’s a new language, learning to sew or cook, or doing a new project, take the time to learn it! Just take a couple hours a day to dedicate to your new skill and you’ll be a pro once this is over!

4. Call Old Friends & Family

Or better yet – FaceTime! We’re having limited contact with others right now, so to get that interaction, start FaceTiming your family members or friends – have a virtual game night! Just because we’re quarantined doesn’t mean we can’t communicate!

5. Give Yourself A Spa Day

It’s obviously been pretty hectic around here the last week or so. Throw in that bath bomb, take a bath, and treat yourself! Just doing a face mask or hair mask makes me feel so refreshed! It’s okay to take time for yourself.

6. Go Outside!

We are slowly getting into this spring weather, so get outside! Take your dog for a walk, and play some games outside. It’s important to get fresh air, especially when we’re stuck inside all day. This will help you feel more energized and ready to take on the day!

7. Start a Workout Routine

I’ll admit. It’s hard to have a workout routine when you work a 9-5 and have other responsibilities to do when you get home. Now there is no excuse, even if you’re still working from home! There are many free programs and apps you can download to guide you and many workouts you can do without any equipment. Get moving!

8. Update Your Home

Just because you can’t get to the store right now, doesn’t mean you can’t shop online! Many retailers (including us!) still allow you to shop online and have something delivered. If you realize that your old furniture needs to go and need something new in your life, or you decide to start working on that new home project, it’s still possible!

9. Work on a 5-Year Plan or Goals

With all this time to think, think of some goals you may have or create a 5-year plan for your life and start working towards that! You can have no distractions at this time so dream big!

10. Update Your Resume

Many people are sadly out of jobs right now with questions of if and when they’ll return to work. If this is you, start updating your resume. Resumes are things that get pushed on the back burner because you haven’t needed one in years. It’s always great to have it ready in case something comes up and you need it right away!
